ICYMI: The Washington Post ran an excellent piece last week, titled, “The Gun’s Not in the Closet,” relating to unsecured firearms accessed by children under the age of 18, and the need for accountability on the part of gun owners who do not do enough to keep these weapons out of the hands of the children.
“Since 1999, children have committed at least 145 school shootings. Among the 105 cases in which the weapon’s source was identified, 80 percent were taken from the child’s home or those of relatives or friends.” Here’s a direct link to the article: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/local/wp/2018/08/01/feature/school-shootings-should-parents-be-charged-for-failing-to-lock-up-guns-used-by-their-kids/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.6773b75cef4c
This is an issue that we’ve been actively working on in recent weeks, and there’s a legislator in NJ who is already drafting legislation to address this. More information will be released soon–please follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest news and updates.
