Alyssa’s Law will be heard in the Assembly Appropriations Committee on Thursday, April 5th. This is the last step before it heads to the full Assembly for a vote.  We are still waiting on the Senate version to make its way through the legislature, but this is an important step in the bill’s advancement towards becoming a law.

I will be issuing a CALL TO ACTION on Monday morning, with instructions on how to call and/or email the Committee members to ask them to vote Yes.  There is also a joint hearing of the Senate & Assembly Education Committees scheduled on Thursday morning in Trenton, where they will hear testimony on School Safety.  I will be there, wearing my bracelets in support of the Alhadeff family and their charity, MakeOurSchoolsSafe.org

Enjoy the holiday weekend with your families, and please check back here on Monday for how you can lend your voice to the fight for safer schools in New Jersey. (Special thanks to Alhadeff family friend Abby Rock for designing and creating these beautiful bracelets in memory of Alyssa. They were sold at the recent community-wide event celebrating Alyssa’s life, and all proceeds were donated to Make Our Schools Safe.)
